ANIMALS THAT DO NOT DIE NATURALLY EPISODE 3
The sea anemone
15.Actiniaria
Cnidaria
Anthozoa
Actiniaria
Edwardsioidea
Heteromysis S
The Sea Anemone !
Lifespan: 100+ Years
Technically, sea anemones don’t actually live that long but with favorable environmental conditions, they can survive more than a hundred years! This is because when one of their tentacles or even their “head gets cut, they can regenerate them into new ones.
Tree weta / zombie bugs
16.Hemideina sp
Arthropoda
Insecta
Orthoptera
Anostostomatidae
Hemideina
Tree Weta
Lifespan: Immortal unless predation
These bugs are very resilient to freezing as they have special proteins in their blood that prevents this from happening. While their hearts and are not that resistant to freezing and can die when completely frozen, they can be ‘revived’ to life when thawed out.
Water bears
17.Hypsibius dujardini
Tardigrades
Eutardigrada
Apochela
Milnesiidae
Beorn leggi
First Animal to Survive in Space
Lifespan: Up to Century
Also known as tardigrades, water bears are possibly the toughest animal in the planet. These creatures, though very tiny (not more than 1.5 mm), can survive extreme conditions like boiling (greater than 100°C, freezing (-272.8°C), cutting, drying, or even putting them in the outer space! In addition to this, they can tolerate extreme radiation and can stop their metabolism for a long time and “ come back to life ” when they get in contact with water.
Crocodiles
18.Animalia
Chordata
Reptilia
These animals are another class of animals that are capable of life long existence. Crocodiles or crocs for short have a tendency of growing up to 70 or 100 years of age. In comparison, a seventy year old croc is as strong as a seven year old croc .This implies that, the older they b grow, the stronger and bigger they become with more tendency to become very hungry which is why we hear of crocodiles that can eat a whole human. When death comes, they do not just die, they are killed. They can die as a result of starvation (i.e absence of food to eat),poaching or hunting by humans and diseases.
Still, see what this hunter shot in Australia in the year 1957 – It was an 8.1 m (28 feet) long crocodile!
Turtles
19.Animalia
Chordata
Reptilia
Just like tortoises, turtles can live very long lives. Turtles are animals with very special abilities and survival skills. One of their distinct survival skills is their back which looks like a sea rock and acts as a camouflage to shield them from danger. Also, turtles can stop their aging process once they get to a particular level and can stop their hearts from beating;then turn it back on after a while when they feel like.Unbelievable right? This will give you a shocker;do you know that you can rip out a turtle's heart only for it to bite you and watch you die slowing from the bite before it dies. Turtles die due to diseases, falling boulders or Master Shredder.
20.Bacteria and Yeast
Many unicellular organisms age and as time passes, they divide more slowly and ultimately die. Asymmetrically dividing bacteria and yeast also age. However, dividing
bacteria and yeast can be biologically immortal under ideal growing conditions. In these conditions, when a cell splits symmetrically to produce two daughter cells, the process of cell division can restore the cell to a youthful state. However, if the parent asymmetrically buds off a daughter only the daughter is reset to the youthful state - the parent isn't restored and will go on to age and die. In a similar manner stem cells and
gametes can be regarded as immortal.
